  in a recent thread someone said that bagpuss was a good name but didn't know what it meant.. bagpuss was a character from a childrens programme in the 1970s and is becoming popular again now.

  i chose this name as like bagpuss i am soft,cuddlyand loyal, but will get the claws out when needed.. why did you choose your 'alias' and what does it tell me about you?

  dear soon-to-be ex-friends:.

  i hereby wholeheartedly and by my own free will request to have all records which indicate my current association with the jehovah's witnesses and it's legal entity, the watchtower bible and tract society, deleted at this time.. the extremelly long time i endured while in your company has been wonderful at times and not so much at others, just like any experience in this great life.. i've looked forward to this time for so long, in which i won't feel forced to attend all those repetitive and boring weekly meetings, add to that the exhausting and expensive assemblies, the memorial, all the time-wasting preaching activities, plus the 'expected' socializing among members.

  it's all so enslaving to me!

  First off, I'm writing this quickly at work, so I hope the content of this post doesn't come off as callused in anyway. It is does, I apologize.

  Your letter employs the KISS method. Short, sweet and to the point. Efffective & good.

  You?ll likely find that most read it, but it won?t really teach them anything about the WTS.

  I've looked forward to this time for so long, in which I won't feel forced to attend all those repetitive and boring weekly meetings, add to that the exhausting and expensive assemblies, the Memorial, all the time-wasting preaching activities, plus the 'expected' socializing among members.

  The above paragraph seems to give indication that your only reason for leaving is that you are spiritually lazy, and the JW?s will likely think that you just got tired of walking the straight and narrow path.

  If your cool with them not really having to analyze WTS screw-ups stumbling you, and with your JW associates thinking that you just ?gave-up?, then the letter does it?s job. Send it out before you?re announced so that everyone knows that you decided to leave and you were not found guilty of anything.

  For me, I decided to write out a long drawn out letter.

  I mailed it out to 20 people before I handed it to the elders, but its likely most didn?t read it. For me, it felt great to write it out and mail it to my friends. Plus if any of those that got my letter finally realize that the WTS is a cult while lying on their deathbed 20 years from now, my hands will be clear because I tried to tell them. Hopefully someone will be helped out from those letters.

  RE: the matter of not playing by the WTS?s rules, I say this: not DA?ing yourself from the WTS and letting the elders give you a one way ticket out of the cult differs little than not kissing a dictators ring to get a personal escort out of a dictatorship.

  It?s an easy ticket to freedom, so lay the pride aside and write a DA letter if ?not playing by WTS rules? is the only thing holding you back.

  Now if someone has family in and there are additional repercussions, that is another story.

  i just discovered something i have not seen anywhere before.

  i was looking at my old "all scripture inspired" book, and i say old because it was the first edition from 1963 and i had used it for years.

  according to the wt cd there were revisions in 1983 and 1990. i came across this little goodie under the book of daniel.

  Less emphasis on 1914?

  i'm not sure if this subject has been touched before but i noticed that since the turn of the millennium, the watchtower has paid less attention to "1914".

  that is to say, when checking the frequency of the term '1914' in the watchtower from 1970-2003 through the wt-library 2003, there is a notable decrease after 1999. see the attached graph.

  would that be a significant development or just statistical coincidence?

  Is it really true that you could only use 1 piece of paper for drying your hands in the bathrooms?

  Yes

  That's why I just stopped washing my hands and made sure to shake everyone else's hands on the way back to my seat

  Remember,

  this is the same group of yahoo's that would have attendents carring signs that were stuck in your face 5 minutes before a session started telling you to "Please Keep Moving"

  I think it relevant.

  Like JT said, it illustrates the WTS' cry of Babylon the Great's waters drying up, except it's happening to the WTS.

  No, it's not ground breaking, but it is notable.

  Kinda like seeing your ex after breaking up 5 years earlier.

  Sure, they may not be homeless and bankrupt... but they sure are getting fatter.

  Fading, but I dont think I can do it

  ive been fading for about 7 months now, but i dont know if i can carry it off.. i was really upset by a family member, had a couple of drinks then phoned my sister, whoes not a jw, ( for a bit of sympathy) but then i revealed too much information about my fading.

  the thing is shes going on holiday with my other sister who is a jw, now im scared she might tell her.

  she wouldnt do it on pupose.. i feel im in quick sand, drowning, i would love to tell the way i really feel, but cant take the shunning.will this ever end?

  Any here that decide to fade I take my hat off to.

  Some are able to do it, like willy seems to be able to pull off [hurray!], but to me, it seems unimaginable.

  After I learned the truth about the Troof, I knew I would either DA myself or get DF'd. I don't like untidy endings.

  But I have the advantage of all of my family predominantly out of the WTS, minus my wife.

  Those that are more pragmatic than I was about leaving for family is understandably a tough decision.

  For me, I already lived over half of my life for other people, the GB & WTS. I don't want to waste the last half of my life appeasing other people as well.

  I gotta be free and find myself and my true potential
